Avoid reaper set tempo marker section10/28/2022 ![]() ![]() (Why are MIDI item so difficult to set to timebase=time? Because in the vast majority of cases, users want MIDI to follow tempo changes.) ![]() The easiest way to do so is to use the SWS actions "Enable "Ignore project tempo" for selected MIDI items and preserve time position of events (use tempo at item's start)". To lock the MIDI notes and CCs to their time positions, the item Properties must be set to "Ignore project tempo". The MIDI notes and CCs *inside* the item will still follow the tempo map. * Even when a MIDI item's timebase is set to Time, it only affects the item start and item length. ![]() Instead they are automatically set to Beats, unless changed at item level. If the track your detecting the tempo for is rhythmic you can look to the transients as guide points. * MIDI items do not follow the project default timebase. To set their timebase, you must select the items, then right-click -> Item properties -> Set timebase to time (or run the action "Item properties: Set item timebase to time"). Note that some audio items may be following their track timebases. I found sometimes that putting a tempo marker at the beginning of a region I am about to move can solve the problem because it would get copied, while if you didn't, reaper would not create the missing tempo marker and it would mess up with midi. In project settings (or in the Actions list), set the timebase for items as well as for markers. That tempo marker before the region is maybe what is causing your problem. To avoid changes when deleting markers, you must set everything to timebase = time. If deletion of a tempo marker at measure 80 affects earlier stuff, perhaps the marker at 57 is set to "Gradually transition to next marker"? Maybe manually readjust any still-off items, encourage them, "Get back, get back, get back to where you once belonged." Maybe copy/paste some items from backups just before the trouble. Now I have an idea, I've got some fix ideas. Maybe strange, but I couldn't really apply myself to unhosing all the damage from the stray marker until I had an idea how it got there. A little Shift-C slip while very much preoccupied with holding/playing acoustic guitar and recording it could easily insert a Tempo Change Marker you don't notice until way down the road and put a serious hurt on your cherished project, as it has on mine. My audio is also recorded in Reaper independently from the host microphone using the same interface. The output of the zoom is set to the loop back device, so zoom is automatically recorded in reaper. Hi, I have a Reaper template set up to grab audio from a loop back device on the vocaster. Applying markers while outside of reaper. ![]() But for anybody might be interested, who's come on this, I suspect I hit Shift-C in the heat of recording - I found the last unhosed backup, and the cursor indicated I'd been in a section of new recording - where I often Undo a take with my not very talented left hand using Ctrl-Z. Search titles only Posted by Member: Separate names with a comma. However, it's compounded by the fact that I'm using gradual tempo changes so splitting at the tempo markers is not enough - the gradual tempo change within the audio between markers still causes audio to drift in/out of time. Thanks for weighing in. It was heaviIy inspired by nd based on th concepts of th ReaAccess xtension, but was crated as a potentiaI replacement because RaAccess seems to hav been abandoned nd. Avoid reaper set tempo marker section mac#The way I found around this is to split the media items at the tempo markers to "tack" that point in the media item to that preticular Bar in the piece. Avoid Reaper Set Tempo Marker Section Mac Ad Is For parameters which support it, there is also an editable text field which allows you to edit the value textually. I played around a little and it looks like Reaper only plots the begining and end of the media Item to the grid, and ignore the tempo changes in between, giving a constant stretch across the whole piece. What I've gathered is that you're trying to get audio to stretch/shrink with changes to the tempo map, at the map points (ie, only stretch the audio past the changed tempo marker, but leave the audio before it untouched). Sorry about that first post, clearly I had not read your post very well. ![]()
